ABEC offers reduced-interest-rate loans to churches that adopt a plan to achieve greater energy efficiency or improved accessibility. Energy conservation projects include addition of insulation, storm windows, insulated siding, high-efficiency lighting, or replacement of an inefficient heating and cooling system.
Any building project that allows everyone to participate more fully in the life of the church will also be considered for a reduced-rate loan.
In these loan programs, the church signs a promissory note as its commitment to the terms of repayment. Reduced-rate loans generally have a repayment period of 12 years with a progressively increasing interest rate that begins at 60% of ABEC's then-current standard interest rate.
